The digitization in factory planning plays a crucial role in reducing the high complexity (digital twin). We use different tools, such as Plavis visTABLE®, for 2D/3D visualization, material flow simulation, and concept verification. Through targeted use, different factory concepts and material flow scenarios can be developed, comparatively evaluated, and presented to support the decision-making process.

Value through tool use:

Plavis visTABLE® is software for consulting and planning experts, providing valuable support for layout planning and material flow analysis through simple and fast visualization of layouts and material flows. Benefits of using this software in factory, layout, or material flow planning include:

  • Visual analyses of existing material flows and processes create a common understanding among all participants and thus the basis for well-founded decisions.
  • Layout concepts can be systematically created and viewed analytically with regard to feasibility, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Faster variant comparison and high work speed — layouts can be created, adjusted, and compared with high informativeness in a short time. This is ideal when developing numerous rough concepts in early planning phases and saves valuable work time.
  • Intuitive operation and easy editing of layouts. Changes can be implemented directly in the discussion or workshop without additional preparation loops such as in CAD, effectively in real time.
  • Reduction of planning complexity; complex matters (material flows, area ratios, bottlenecks, etc.) are prepared visually and understandably. This facilitates communication with management and project stakeholders.
  • 2D or 3D visualization creates transparency and is very useful for result presentation to executives and, above all, in project steering circles.
  • Diverse optimization approaches, such as bottlenecks in material flow or weaknesses in the layout, can be more easily identified and quantified through tool use.
  • Area balances in layout planning are supported by aligning needs and offers. Likewise, the representation of quantities in material flows or transport loads using heat maps and other analysis options.
  • For layout planning and quick modeling, planning modules are available in the object manager, which, together with complete planning scenarios (concept variants), are managed in model libraries.
  • Interfaces for import and export of to-scale layouts to common CAD systems are available and allow the exchange of layouts/concept statuses between tools.
  • Not only factories can be planned with it, but also warehouses and logistics centers.

Factory planning, layout, and material flow planning with powerful tools

ebp-consulting uses various innovative tools, such as Plavis visTABLE®, to work more efficiently, systematically, and with greater foundation in daily planning and consulting work. Factory planning with ebp-consulting and visTABLE® combines the experts’ expertise in engineering and planning with the right software. In the first step, visTABLE® is fed with the competent analysis by ebp consultants using the correct and relevant information such as layouts, warehouse and material flow key figures from a BI tool. In the next step, the optimized layout and material flow concept can be developed with the support of visTABLE® and evaluated based on material flow key figures.

The correct interpretation of the results by the ebp experts ultimately allows iterative optimization up to the desired concept. The visualization of planning statuses and results with project participants and decision-makers/stakeholders in 2D or even 3D facilitates the communication and often accelerates the acceptance of planning concepts. When planning statuses are further detailed or exchanged with other parties, transfer to a CAD system typically takes place. In the case of securing planning statuses, especially with high dynamics or bottlenecks, for example in material flow planning, simulation is used. We can rely on additional software tools such as Plant Simulation®.
