Markus Managing Consultant

How Long have you been at ebp and what is your role as a Managing Consultant?

"I have now been at ebp for over 1.5 years. My main job as a managing consultant is to ensure that the projects for which I am responsible are successfully completed with respect to content, scheduling and the estimated costs."

What does a typical workday look like for you?

"Very dynamic! No two days are the same and the structure of a workday always depends on the status of the project. As such, it can vary from travelling all around Germany by plane, car and train one week to 5 days in the office in Stuttgart the next."

What is your perception of the corporate culture at ebp?

"At ebp, team spirit is something that we feel and embody, and this includes everyone from junior consultants to management. There are no hierarchical barriers, we communicate openly with one another and lend each other mutual support. We also always have dealings with each other outside of business. This means that there is also fun to be had."

What did the application process involve and why did you choose to work for ebp?

"The application process was entirely professional and transparent. I felt valued and well looked after at all times. For me, the deciding factor which made me choose ebp was the good first overall impression, the pleasant atmosphere during the face-to-face interview and most importantly, the overwhelmingly positive impression that the people I was introduced to made upon me. This all turned out to be true."

Tobias Consultant

What were your expectations when you applied?

"I applied to work as a consultant at ebp as I wished to be able to work on projects for a wide range of clients from different industries and to undertake work independently and on my own responsibility in order to develop both professionally and personally."

How did you spend your induction period at ebp?

"Following my arrival at ebp, I was involved in a new project right from day one. Thanks to the project manager, I was quickly introduced to the project tasks and working methods. I was introduced to ebp's relevant formats and templates, IT and knowledge databases by the appropriate colleagues over the course of the first few days."

How do you find the work-life balance at ebp?

"For a management consultancy, I feel that the work-life balance at ebp is very good. The flexibility granted with respect to private appointments is especially noteworthy, as it means that they can be easily integrated into the working day. The weekly workload generally remains within healthy limits."

What would you say to graduates who are interested in Consulting?

"I would advise graduates who are interested in consulting to just jump in at the deep end. In return, you will get a working life that is very exciting, as well as the opportunity to learn at an astonishing rate and to develop on both a personal and professional level."

Rebecca Consultant

What does a typical workday look like for you?

"Workdays can vary greatly depending on the project. When working on operational projects, I am often on-site at the production facilities or warehouse, surveying processes and assisting with implementation. In this field there are also many coordination meetings on the agenda. I'm also frequently out and about taking part in meetings when working on strategic projects. However, the general nature of these projects is somewhat different. The discussions often take place at a more abstract and political level. This is why it is so important to meticulously prepare both before and after the meetings, as well as prepare the content of presentations."

How do you find the work-life balance at ebp?

"Depending on the project workload, there are some incredibly challenging periods, during which you learn a lot, and some less challenging periods. Unlike at other consultancies, however, I feel that care is taken to ensure that one can maintain a personal life alongside one's work. I was even given the chance to take a sabbatical of almost five months in order to realise my dream, which was to travel the world."

What has been your favourite ebp event to date?

"All the events that I was able to take part in were amazing. But there is one event in particular that stands out in my mind. In 2014 we were in Saalfelden and had organised go-cart races. Over the course of this trip we were also given the opportunity to drive incredibly heavy Landrovers off-road ourselves, completed a driver safety training course and were able to really make the tyres squeal when sliding."

Philipp Senior Consultant & Project manager

What progress have you made at ebp?

"I started as a junior consultant and am now responsible for projects as well as holding managerial responsibilities. ebp stands out in particular because the milestones in the development of every employee are set in close consultation with management. This means that both professional and personal goals can be included."

What does a typical workday look like for you?

"As a consultant, you need to organise yourself around the clients and projects. The projects require you to be flexible and prepared to travel. As a result, there are some working weeks when you spend more time out and about, and some when you can spend time at the office tackling issues and preparing."

What do you like most about your Job?

"The fact that every project is different, meaning that there is always more to be learned. I also enjoy working with my colleagues, which is so important in a consultancy firm. When you travel together, you are not just a team when you are at work, but when work is finished too."

How much time do you spend travelling on average and what is the furthest afield you have ever travelled in the course of your work with ebp?

"I spend two to three days a week travelling. The project landscape is international, which is one reason why I chose to work for ebp. The furthest afield I have ever travelled for a project was South Africa."
