On 3 July, executives from over 20 companies gathered at the SCM Executive Circle in Munich to discuss challenges, trends and innovations in logistics and supply chain management. In addition to professional discussions, the event focused on networking.
Dr Christian Jacobi attended the event as a representative of ebp-consulting and discussed the key logistics topics with the executives. “It was very interesting to hear the different ideas from the various participants, particularly on the topic of ‘Warehouses of the Future’.” The experts agreed that automation, digitalisation and robotics will form the backbone of the logistics sector in the coming years, with a view to improving performance and ultimately maintaining competitiveness. The challenges in the supply chain (geopolitical conditions, supply chains) and logistics (labour market demands, cost pressures) are more diverse and demanding than ever. They demand the highest levels of efficiency, flexibility and process reliability from companies.
Christian Jacobi also had the opportunity to present the results of another round table. The focus was on the topic “Automation and Robotics”, which offers plenty of scope for discussion. Automation and digitalisation require suitable IT systems, powerful software and access to the right data. Once the potential for automation has been identified, suitable technologies can be selected. The wealth of technologies and providers available means that expert know-how and extensive experience are required when making a selection. The use of AI and robotics, including humanoid robots, was also discussed, particularly in order picking.
In the evening, discussions were deepened and further contacts made over dinner. Christian’s conclusion: Interesting encounters, inspiring conversations, good ideas and colleagues who speak openly about their daily challenges!
