Today, there is a particular focus on the disposal of lithium-ion batteries, which are accumulating in ever-increasing quantities as a result of electromobility. Due to their chemical composition, they are classified as hazardous goods and are subject to strict legal requirements. The ADR Directive (an international agreement that sets uniform regulations for the transport of dangerous goods by road in Europe) regulates safe transport, while the EU Battery Regulation sets requirements for collection, storage, recycling and traceability.
